To keep everyone safe this summer, we require that you follow the West U Piranhas COVID-19 protocol. We are a community and must trust each other to be honest with our reporting. Many restrictions and recommendations by the CDC are changing. We will monitor these changes, but at this time request that all swimmers and parents/caregivers be masked at all times unless actively participating in swim team practice.

Swimmers WILL NOT enter/exit the pool area from inside the West U Rec Center lobby. Upon arrival at the Rec Center, please park and escort your swimmer to the outside gate on the southwest side of the building (by the playground) for check-in. Swimmers should arrive no earlier than 5 minutes before practice time ready to swim with their swimsuit, cap and goggles. There will be no locker room access. Please form a line along the gate, respecting social distancing guidelines.

A daily COVID Screening Form will be required. We will provide copies or you may print and complete a form (see below) for each practice. If the answer to any question is “yes,” we require that the child refrain from practicing based on current CDC guidelines. The volunteer at the gate will collect the forms before entry into the pool area. Parents will not be allowed in the pool area.

As swimmers enter the pool area, they will be directed to a designated area in which to place their towel, mask and shoes. Coaches will then direct swimmers to their assigned lanes. Swimmers’ attendance and lane assignments will be recorded for contact tracing purposes. Swimmers will be spaced on both sides of the pool and asked to respect social distancing guidelines when not in the pool. If a swimmer needs to use the restroom, they will be asked to use the single occupancy restrooms on the pool deck.

At the end of practice, swimmers will quickly collect their towels, masks and shoes and exit from the same gate on the southwest side of the facility. There will be no locker room access. Parents/caregivers should park and walk up to meet their swimmer after practice. No carpool lines will be allowed. We ask that parents promptly pick up their swimmers as the next group will be entering the pool area upon their departure. The last groups in the pool during evening practices (Groups G, H, I & J until June 14th) will exit the pool area from the lobby.
